Virginia high school educator celebrates 2 decades of finding jobs for her students

BEDFORD, Va. (WSET) — It takes a special person to help others achieve their dreams. For Regina Carter, she has made a career out of helping others find theirs at Liberty High School in Bedford. But making this a career was not originally on her radar. "Once I got in the class setting and saw what it was all about," she recalled thinking "I can do this," said Carter, a special education job coach at Liberty High School (LHS).

Area church group hosting monthly breakfast

BELLEFONTE, Pa (WJAC) — The Bellefonte Knights of Columbus is hosting its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday, according to thegroup's Facebook page. Doors opened at 8:30 and breakfast will be served until noon. Breakfast is $9 for adults and $4 for children, with both eat-in and take-out options available. The breakfast is being served at the organization's home, located at 315 Stoney Batter Road in Bellefonte. An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served on the third Sunday of each month, from now through May.

Centre Co. Commissioners issue Declaration of Disaster Emergency due to localized flooding

CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — The Centre County board of Commissioners issued a Declaration of Disaster Emergency Thursday afternoon as heavy rain caused localized flooding throughout the region. The Penn's Valley area was impacted by the flooding, including parts of Millheim and Coburn. Many houses were swamped as creeks crested and overflowed. Illegal migrant tied up Wisconsin 12-year-old after paying for 'time alone,' police say

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (TND) — A Nicaraguan native who allegedly tied up and blindfolded a 12-year-old Wisconsin girl had paid the girl's mother to spend “time alone” with her, police told FOX11 News. Police say they responded to a call in Oakfield, Wisconsin early Sunday morning after the girl knocked on a stranger’s door asking for help. The girl had escaped after the man, residing in the U.S. illegally, allegedly restrained her, police said.

Nanty Glo Park and Pool open for business

NANTY GLO- Tons of people crowded the Nanty Glo Park and Pool Tuesday as the temperatures continued to rise. The pool manager said the pool opened later into the year because repairs had to be made beforehand. Mary Swope, a new hire from Indiana, said the borough helped pay for new filters, plumbing and a new chlorinator. "Those are some of the major things that needed done," said Swope. Swope said after that, prisoners volunteered to help with some finishing touches.
