Former pastor charged with murder of Pennsylvania child from 1975

DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa [TND] — The case of a missing 8-year-old girl from Pennsylvania, whose remains were found in 1975, was solved. Authorities in Media, Pennsylvania charged 83-year-old David Zandstra with criminal homicide, murder of the first, second, and third degree, kidnapping of a minor and the possession of an instrument of crime, nearly 50 years after Gretchen Harrington was murdered. Zandstra admitted to the crime, according to Delaware County District Attorney, Jack Stollsteimer.

Men charged with killing gangster Whitey Bulger in prison have plea deals, prosecutors say

WASHINGTON (AP) — Three men charged in the 2018 prison killing of notorious Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger have reached plea deals with prosecutors, according to court papers filed Monday. The plea deals for Fotios “Freddy” Geas, Paul J. DeCologero and Sean McKinnon were disclosed nearly six years after the 89-year-old gangster was beaten to death in his cell at a troubled West Virginia prison. Geas, a onetime Mafia hitman, and DeCologero, a Massachusetts gangster, were accused of repeatedly hitting Bulger in the head while McKinnon served as a lookout.

Altoona Salvation Army offering Thanksgiving meal this weekend

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — The Salvation Army in Altoona has been preparing all this week to feed 200 to 300 community members a Thanksgiving meal this weekend. And organizers want you to know you are invited to the dinner. Volunteers are preparing 14 20-pound turkeys, along with various side dishes to make the meal complete. Organizers say the dinner is open to anyone for a time of fellowship, connecting with one another and enjoying good conversation.

Former Shondells create new group called 'The Crystal Blue Band'

PENFIELD - A popular rock and roll group from the late 1960s is making their way back into the limelight. Three original members from Tommy James and the Shondells have gotten back together as The Crystal Blue Band. One member, Ron Rosman, was born and raised in Penfield, Clearfield County. Rosman lived there until he was 14 years old. It was during his college years at St. Vincent College in Latrobe when he was discovered by Tommy James.
