Suspect in Dale Borough shooting, car crash arrested in Georgia, DA confirms

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities say the suspect in a shooting and subsequent car crash in Dale Borough earlier this year has been taken into custody. Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer has confirmed that Tyree Carter was arrested this week in Henry County, Georgia by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Officials say Carter is wanted for shooting a woman in Dale Borough, on the night of January 29th, and causing her to crash her car.

(WJAC) — Last weekend, many local bowlers put their skills to the test in the Western Pennsylvania Wildcard Singles, but a trio emerged at the top and those three bowlers will now be headed to the Western Pennsylvania Regional Championships. Greater Johnstown’s Lexington Tanaka is one of three local bowlers whose high score qualified for the regional championships that will lead to the state championship. Tanaka says it feels good for a sport that flies under the radar to get recognition.

74th annual Maple Festival kicks off in Somerset County this weekend

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The 74th annual Maple Festival kicked off in Somerset County this weekend. Dozens of people gathered at the Meyersdale Lions Club on Saturday morning for some sausage and pancakes...served with some fresh maple syrup of course. Visitors could stop by the quilt show, many vendors, tractor and truck shows, all while watching live entertainment. Rebecca Wright was crowned the 74th Maple Queen who said the festival is a tradition for many families.
