PSU working to renew financial agreement with Centre County municipalities

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Work is underway to renew a unique financing agreement Penn State has with a number of Centre County municipalities and other entities. More than twenty years ago, when Centre County government and other municipalities were in court with Penn State over the university's tax status, the issue was resolved with the university agreeing to pay various county, and Centre Region entities, a total of well over a million dollars a year as an impact fee.

State officials visit Johnstown as they look to blunt drug overdoses from shooting up

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Pennsylvania’s Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Secretary Jen Smith traveled to Cambria County Tuesday to meet with local stakeholders and county officials as the department begins a state tour to discuss how to combat the increase in overdose deaths across the commonwealth. State Police charge news anchor with making up stalker story

ERIE, Pa. (WJAC) — A news anchor and reporter told state police she had become the target of a stalker who progressed from text messages and phone calls to a handwritten note that was slid under her apartment door and sending flowers to her office at the television station. But Pennsylvania State Police now believe it was all fabricated. Haley Potter, 24, of WICU-TV/WSEE-TV in Erie, faces felony and other criminal charges as a result of months worth of tales, according to Erie Times-News.

Woman leaps from pier, swims away from police after caught having sex in public

NAPLES, Fla. (TND) — A young woman was arrested after she allegedly jumped off a pier and into the ocean. The 20-year-old's escape happened at the Naples Pier after she and a 23-year-old man were caught having sex, according to authorities. On Memorial Day, a Naples police officer responded to the pier in response to calls about a man and woman having sex - one of those calls was from a mother whose children witnessed the alleged act.

Big Run man found with child porn after sending messages to group posing as 'teen'

Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say a Jefferson County man is behind bars after dozens of child pornography images were allegedly found on his cellphones. Police say in March, 51-year-old Arthur Kennedy, of Big Run, reportedly sent a nude picture of himself to members of the 814 Pred Hunters group, who were posing as a 13-year-old girl. When confronted by police, Kennedy allegedly admitted to possessing several images of nude young girls.
