Annual National Pike Days held in Somerset Co.

A long-time Somerset County tradition wrapped up in the southern part of the county Friday. National Pike Days was held in Addison Borough this week. The event celebrates the national road and at one time even included covered wagons. The Addison Volunteer Fire Department showed third graders from local schools some of their equipment, from the department's oldest apparatus, an 1890 chemical cart, to its newest piece of equipment: a newly acquired brush truck.

Auto shop owner who paid worker in 91,500 oily pennies ordered to pay nearly $40K more

ATLANTA (AP) — The owner of an auto repair shop who paid a former employee with 91,500 oily pennies has been ordered by a judge to pay nearly 4 million more cents. A federal judge ruled that Miles Walker, who owns A OK Walker Autoworks in Peachtree City, Georgia, owes $39,934 to nine workers for unpaid overtime and damages. Attorneys for Walker agreed to the payments to settle a civil lawsuit brought by the U.

Clearfield County CYS retains operational license due to vital improvements

Officials in Clearfield County say they were able to make the needed improvements to keep the operating license for their Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) for at least the next six months. Commissioner Dave Glass says they haven’t been able to fix every problem yet, but the state says they are on the ‘right trajectory.’ On Monday, the Department of Human Services sent out a release saying they revoked the license for Blair County Children, Youth, and Families (BCCYF) due to multiple violations, including a large backlog of reports.

Snake season is upon us, officials warning residents be on the look out

Officials say it's snake season here in west central Pennsylvania and they're warning residents to be on the lookout. According to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, there are 21 types of snakes living in Pennsylvania. They say three of those species are venomous -- the timber rattlesnake, the eastern copperhead and the eastern massasauga rattlesnake. The timber rattlesnake and the eastern copperhead both live in our region. Snakes like the warmth from sun, but also look for a place to hide.

The 82nd Sunnehanna Amateur is set to tee off

Johnstown, Pa — The world's best amateur golfers are in Johnstown for the 82nd Sunnehanna Amateur. Between Wednesday and Saturday people at home will have the chance to attend Sunnehanna Country Club to watch the best of the best for free. You may not recognize their names now, but many in the tournament will go on to play on the PGA tour. The first group of players is scheduled to tee-off at eight A.
