Blair County District Attorney announces intent to remain in office

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks announced his intent to officially run for District Attorney Tuesday. Retired longtime Blair County District Attorney, Rich Consiglio, formally endorsed Weeks, who had been acting as the DA since Consiglio’s retirement last year. He was officially sworn in last April to fulfill the remainder of Consiglio’s term. Weeks' office is working on community outreach within area schools. Once things get back to normal, he wants specialized prosecutors and “front line law enforcement” to go into area schools and speak to students about drug abuse, human trafficking, social media pitfalls and other emerging dangers that target children.

Greater Johnstown School District considers closing middle school

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- The Greater Johnstown Middle School could be closing in the near future. No decision has been made yet, but last week the school board approved a motion to have a hearing regarding a possible closure. The acting superintendent stresses that no decision has been made, but he says now is the time to ask whether it's in the best interest of the community to keep the middle school open, or look at another redesign to save taxpayers additional costs.

Minnesota mother charged with murdering 2 children and setting home on fire

DULUTH, Minn. (TND) — A Minnesota woman has been charged with the murder of her two children and neglecting a third after setting fire to a house and fleeing the scene.
