SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — After years of sending criminals to prison, suspended Somerset County District Attorney Jeff Thomasspent the night behind bars.
The jury returned a guilty verdict -- on six charges -- after Thomas was convicted of assaulting a Windber woman in September of 2021.
"This case was never about Jeff Thomas. This case was about a woman who had the strength to walk into a police station, hoping that somebody would believe her.
JOHNSTOWN -- A new partnership is set to give more people with disabilities direct access to job training. The commonwealth is partnering with CVS Health to have a mock store training setup at the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown.
Students will be able to take part in a six-week program, training them to be cashiers and pre-pharmacy technicians.
"On any given day, CVS Health has 900 to 1,200 vacancies, so our new workforce development program will train future employees for CVS in the areas of sales associate and pharmacy technician,"

Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — The death of a man found in a Carrolltown pond last month has officially been ruled accidental.
The Cambria County coroner's office says 42-year-old Eric Bender died from drowning.
Authorities say alcohol intoxication was also identified as a contributing factor.
Bender was found in the early morning hours of June 19th in a pond about 10 feet deep off Dindios Street.
Authorities say he reportedly lived nearby.
CLEARFIELD, Pa. — The Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) hosted its first Signing Day Thursday to recognize students for their plans after graduation.
About 40 students from CCCTC signed letters of intent with a college related to their trades or a future employer.
“At a time in our nation where our trades skills and occupations associated with those skills are at an all-time high with regards to need, we are proud to have these students taking an initiative and hopefully fulfilling a lot of that need,"
