CAMBRIA COUNTY -- It's that time of year when the Pennsylvania Game Commission heads out into the woods to study the bear population, particularly the state's newest arrivals. They're as cute and cuddly and as they look, but getting to the cubs and their mama is no easy feat. To get to one den in Cambria County Thursday, officials and their guests trekked more than an hour into the woods, up steep hills, through deep brush and mud.

LOGAN TOWNSHIP -- Three men broke into the Horseshoe Curve historic landmark Sunday while people across the country watched on a livestream and dialed 911, Logan Township police said. Virtual Railfan, LLC provides livestreams of various popular railroad sites across the United States, including the Horseshoe Curve. Fans of the livestream said Sunday night that almost 200 people had been watching around the time of the break-in. Police said three men are involved, and the video shows them squeeze through a fence, and one man briefly gets stuck.

CENTRE CO, Pa (WJAC) — Mount Nittany Health announced Friday that it has revised it's visitation policy due to a recent, local "uptick" in COVID-19 cases. Health officials say the hospital is currently treating 25 COVID positive patients, ages 28-90. "Over the last several weeks, Mount Nittany Medical Center has seen an uptick of COVID-19 cases in our community, and with it, a steady increase in the numbers of patients hospitalized due to COVID.

University Park, PA (WJAC) — With just a little over a week away from the start of the 2023 Penn State football season, the university announced Thursday that fans will notice several new changes and additions to the fan experience this year at Beaver Stadium. Among the changes are a new fan assistance shuttle service for those in need of mobility assistance, the addition of two family-friendly gates for families with children under the age of 12, and a new ticket policy for fans with children under the age of two.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — The Robert Morris University hockey team paid a visit to the Johnstown fire department on Friday. Firefighters showed them around and gave the team a glimpse of what they do every day. Robert Morris plays at the War Memorial Saturday against Ontario Tech. The team's assistant coach says road trips can provide the team with a bonding experience that can help them later in the season.
